The clocks rolled back to the 1920s. Candles and lamps gave a warm glow to the darkness of the living-room-turned speakeasy. The bartender served up signature cocktails with a flair to guests dressed in flapper and mobster attire. Big band music played from the speakers and mixed with the joyful chatter of the mingling party-goers.
Suddenly, Diana — the guest of honor — was spotted out the window, and the excited crowd gathered at the back door to greet her. As she stepped into the room, her eyes shimmered bright with excitement. She scanned the crowd, looking at the faces of her dear friends gathered to celebrate her birthday and beaming from ear to ear. “Oh my gosh, this is AMAZING!” she exclaimed, taking in every one of the carefully-planned details and hugging each of her guests. It was the start of an evening that Diana would describe as her “best birthday EVER!”

Diana’s birthday celebration was a truly spectacular evening that was memorable in every way! It was incredible to see all the details and planning that went into the event (plus, it was SO MUCH FUN to see the elaborate 1920s attire everyone donned for the party!!!). Friends had helped transform Charles and Diana’s living room into a speakeasy for the evening, and every carefully-selected detail helped set the tone for the murder mystery that played out over the course of the evening. Judah and Scott from The Murder Mystery Company Charlotte were great entertainers as they helped everyone determine “whodunit!” I’m also convinced that the guests who were chosen to play suspects in the murder mystery are actually amateur actors!
The most memorable moment for me was seeing the surprise and excitement on Diana’s face when she discovered that Ian, her favorite bartender from Prohibition Charleston, was there serving up cocktails! Throughout the whole evening, it was so evident how excited she was to be surrounded by so many of her friends to celebrate her birthday... her joy was contagious!
What stuck with me the most was the incredible energy, warmth, and love emanating from Diana at every moment. Not only could you tell that she was having the absolute best time, but her appreciation for all the work that went into the event and her gratitude to all those who made it happen was so evident!
