It looked (and felt) like a scene straight out of a holiday catalog: The streets, quiet and empty in the early morning light, flanked by lamp posts wrapped in evergreen garlands. Wreaths hanging cheerfully from shop doors. Holiday tableaux adorning storefront windows, their lights and colors sparkling. A joyful family of four, perfectly coordinated in festive holiday colors, smiling, laughing, pulling each other close. You could feel the love radiating from them, and the warmth and ease of their smiles made their joy contagious and put everyone in their path in the holiday spirit!
This festive family holiday session was the perfect way to spend my Friday morning the day after Thanksgiving! I first met Diana and Charles when I photographed Diana’s fabulous 1920s speakeasy-themed murder mystery birthday party earlier this fall, and I was so thrilled when Diana contacted me to schedule a session for their family holiday photos!
“We picked a great morning to do this!” I joked as Charles, Diana, and their sweet kiddos stepped out of their car to meet me in downtown Summerville for their session. Even though that morning brought the coldest weather we’ve had in weeks, it also made it extra easy to get those snuggly family photos that truly capture the love that this sweet family has for each other! Even without the chilly temperatures, it was not at all hard to get these four to look cozy and comfortable in front of the camera. And can we please talk for a minute about how fantastic they all look?! In addition to the amazing styling on their outfits, Diana recruited her sister, a hair and makeup artist, to help her look extra amazing! I mean, really... everything about this holiday session is total holiday card photo goals! :)
Hudgens family — Thank you all for getting up early and braving the cold to let me capture these family photos for you! I hope they bring a smile to your face and that they always remind you of this time in your lives! You are just the sweetest family, and it is so obvious how close you are and how much you all love each other!
Charles and Diana, I could tell from the first time I met you two how much fun you have together, and I hope that is something my husband and I can emulate for our son as we grow together through the years! And your sweet son and daughter's precious sibling bond warms my heart so much. It’s not always easy to get siblings to love on each other for family photos, but it wasn’t a stretch at all with those two! My wish for them both is that they continue to treasure that bond that they have as they grow up. :)
